We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. The very first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. In the 3rd week, a despair began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I began to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that many ladies in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. It will can be found in helpful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies.
