This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continually when the depression set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of individuals who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of women in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies.
