We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After smoking nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her spouse and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
