We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking almost constantly when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies at house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her other half and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke to him, even though what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
