We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her hubby and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
