We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a doubt. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up till September, I had actually been similar to you. We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her hubby and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never talked to him, although what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
