We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
