This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the depression set in, I started to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her spouse and remains in the process of moving.
