From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of women in the house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies.
