We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been much like you. The first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. In the 3rd week, a malaise began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continually when the depression embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her husband and remains in the process of moving.
