We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had actually been much like you. We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
