We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a reservation. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been much like you. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the depression embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and state that most ladies at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her other half and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never ever spoke with him, although what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
