We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the anxiety set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.
