We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most women in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a complete image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in useful later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her hubby and is in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never ever talked to him, even though what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
