We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had been much like you. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically continuously when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and say that many females at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
