We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of all of it. I think it's time I offered you a complete picture of our street and the people who reside on it. It will be available in helpful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her spouse and remains in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers.
