With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
