We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been just like you. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise began to creep in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the anxiety embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that many women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a total photo of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will be available in useful in the future. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
