We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a 2nd idea. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that most women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of all of it. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
