We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no smoking policy in our house, implemented on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I think it's time I offered you a complete picture of our street and the people who survive on it. It will come in beneficial later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her spouse and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself.
