All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. Triggering to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to finish with the day rather than what my neighbours would depend on. I developed a problem with my knee. A semi-serious issue. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I signed up with the ranks of the long-lasting ill, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it simple. The very first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. Then in the third week, a malaise began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically constantly when the depression set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of women in your home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of all of it. I think it's time I gave you a complete image of our street and individuals who live on it. It will come in useful later. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
