We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This suggests that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically constantly when the depression embeded in, I began to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
