After smoking almost continuously when the depression embeded in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat.
