From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continually when the depression set in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other females.
