We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a doubt. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been just like you. The very first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. In the 3rd week, a despair started to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continually when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your home. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
