From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost constantly when the depression set in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would disrupt me now, and state that most women at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time.
