From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically constantly when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat.
