We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would interrupt me now, and state that most women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never ever talked to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
