We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no smoking policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her other half and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
