All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been similar to you. Then in the third week, a despair began to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continuously when the depression embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
