We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in useful later. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
