We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been just like you. We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking nearly continually when the anxiety set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
