We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies in your home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of all of it. I think it's time I offered you a complete image of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
