From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the depression embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of females at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time.
