After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the depression set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and say that most women at house do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving.
