We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continually when the anxiety embeded in, I began to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
