We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After smoking cigarettes nearly constantly when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't understand the half of all of it. I believe it's time I provided you a complete photo of our street and individuals who live on it. It will can be found in helpful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
