We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second idea. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that most ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
