From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of women at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
