We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your home. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a total image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in useful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
