We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second idea. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that most women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
