All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had actually been just like you. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would depend on. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I might stroll, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The very first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. Then in the third week, a despair began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses throughout the street. I began to choose up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that many women at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, although what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
