We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continuously when the anxiety set in, I started to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat.
