We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had actually been much like you. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to make with the day instead of what my neighbours would depend on. Then, I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious issue. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I signed up with the ranks of the long-term ill, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. In the third week, a malaise began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking almost continually when the depression set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of everything. I think it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will be available in useful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her partner and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never ever spoke to him, even though what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
