We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of it all. I think it's time I provided you a total picture of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in helpful in the future. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
