From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking almost continuously when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women.
