We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking nearly continuously when the depression set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. Last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.
