We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continually when the anxiety embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I gave you a complete image of our street and the people who survive on it. It will be available in beneficial later. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
