All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been similar to you. In the third week, a malaise began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. I started to choose up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that many females in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
