We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had actually been much like you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to finish with the day instead of what my neighbours would be up to. I joined the ranks of the long-term sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. In the third week, a despair began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that many ladies in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of everything. I think it's time I offered you a complete picture of our street and the people who survive on it. It will come in useful later on. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
