With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
