After smoking cigarettes nearly continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would disrupt me now, and say that most females at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other females. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
