All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a reservation. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been just like you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to make with the day rather than what my neighbours would depend on. The very first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. In the third week, a despair began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continually when the depression set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of females at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her spouse and remains in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke to him, although what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
