We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continually when the depression set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not know the half of everything. I think it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will come in helpful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her husband and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. I never spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
