We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat.
