We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies in the house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies.
