With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that the majority of women in your home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
