We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
