I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would disrupt me now, and say that many women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women.
