We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of women in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of all of it. I think it's time I provided you a total picture of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
