We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a doubt. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been just like you. We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety set in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of women at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She recently separated from her husband and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I never spoke to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
