We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage kids. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
